A new research report by RILSA: Flexible forms of work – homeworking in the Czech Republic and selected European countries

The monograph is devoted to one of the flexible forms of work – homeworking (work from home), respectively, work outside the employer’s workplace. Homeworking is becoming increasingly popular. The use of this form of work is associated with a number of benefits, in particular providing opportunities for better reconciliation of family and working life, work performance from a more distant place, better time organization, reduced commuting travel, savings in employer operating costs, reduced absences and incapacity for work. The main disadvantage can be considered in the risk of overtime, social isolation, dependence on ICT technologies, problems with working time organization, increased demands on employers for technical requirements, ensuring safe conditions and health protection at work outside the employer’s workplace.

The monograph brings the main findings regarding the application of homeworking, respectively, work outside the employer’s workplace in the Czech Republic and in selected European countries, including its possible delimitation and identifies possible barriers of using this flexible form of work. In conclusion, based on the findings, it presents recommendations for changes in the area of ​​work performance adjustment outside the workplace in the Czech Republic.
